Hello, fellow adventurers!
I recently embarked on the Har Ki Dun Trek with Himalaya Shelter, and I’m thrilled to share my experience with you. This trek is a captivating journey through the pristine beauty of the Garhwal Himalayas, offering a perfect blend of rich cultural heritage, stunning landscapes, and a touch of adventure. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced trekker, Har Ki Dun promises an unforgettable adventure. Here’s a detailed account of my trek:
Day 1: The Beginning - Sankri to Taluka
Our adventure began in the quaint village of Sankri, situated at an altitude of 6,400 feet. Sankri serves as the gateway to the Har Ki Dun valley and other treks in the region. After a hearty breakfast, we set off on a jeep ride to Taluka, a small hamlet nestled along the banks of the Supin River. The 12 km drive was picturesque, with lush greenery and cascading streams keeping us company.
Day 2: Taluka to Seema
From Taluka, we started our trek towards Seema. The trail was a gentle ascent, weaving through dense forests of pine and rhododendron, with the Supin River accompanying us on one side. Along the way, we crossed several wooden bridges and passed by charming villages, where we interacted with the locals and learned about their traditional way of life. The day ended with us reaching Seema, where we set up camp for the night.
Day 3: Seema to Har Ki Dun
The trek from Seema to Har Ki Dun was the most exciting part of our journey. The trail took us through lush meadows and forested slopes, offering stunning views of the snow-capped peaks of Swargarohini and Bandarpoonch. As we ascended, the landscape transformed into a magnificent valley, with the Har Ki Dun River flowing serenely through it. We finally reached the Har Ki Dun campsite, nestled at an altitude of 11,480 feet, surrounded by towering peaks and lush greenery.
Day 4: Exploring Har Ki Dun Valley
We dedicated this day to exploring the enchanting Har Ki Dun valley. The valley is a paradise for nature lovers, with its rich biodiversity and breathtaking vistas. We hiked to Morinda Tal, a high-altitude lake with crystal-clear waters reflecting the surrounding peaks. The serene atmosphere and the pristine beauty of the valley left us in awe. In the evening, we returned to our campsite and enjoyed a bonfire under the star-lit sky.
Day 5: Har Ki Dun to Seema
The return journey began with a descent back to Seema. The trail, though familiar, still offered mesmerizing views and a chance to relive the beauty of the valley. We took our time to soak in the last glimpses of the snow-capped peaks and lush forests. By evening, we reached Seema and set up camp for the night.
Day 6: Seema to Sankri
The final leg of our trek took us back to Sankri. The descent was gentle, and we took our time to enjoy the serene landscapes and the warmth of the local hospitality. Upon reaching Sankri, we celebrated our successful trek with a hearty meal and shared our experiences with fellow trekkers.
