The Commercial Appeal tested out the Grizzlies on the field to see if the audience is awash in the hype of the Grizzlies and star point guard Ja Morant. This MT 2K23 All-Star has a slick handle as well as some of the greatest speed you can find in the game. By using just one dribble movement to take defenders off balance, it's easier for Morant to put him down on the ground and hit than a lot of players.
The current 2K buys all the Morant stock. He has a higher score on layups than Kyrie Irving and is able to overall dunk as Zach Lavine and Aaron Gordon. Morant's speed also ranks second among the point guards after Russell Westbrook and De'Aaron Fox. Morant has 30 2K badges, which are used to indicate the style of play of the player and boosts their performance during games.
The options include quick twitch as well as unlimited takeoff as his two hall of fame options. In terms of defensively, chase-down is Morant's top badge. The good news is that players are cognizant about the fact Desmond Bane is one of the top shooters in the league. His overall score of 88 points is in line with Klay Thompson, who is second on the field. The problem is his release appears to be slower than it actually is.
Getting open shots for Bane are most likely to be created in transition or through calling plays. The majority of defenders are quick to close out during the game, but Bane's release doesn't seem as quick like Thompson or Stephen Curry's. It's evident that "2K" believes Bane as shot-maker who has more to work on. While his ball-handling abilities and passing accuracy are excellent but his speed with the ball makes it hard to make. From the top 10 shooting guards Bane's defensive rating is only better than Bradley Beal, C.J. McCollum and Tyler Herro.
Brandon Clarke was one of the Grizzlies' unsung heroes last season, but "NBA 2K23" isn't buying the hype. While he received a high inside shot rating (92) Clarke's post scoring hook shot fade, control and hook are all less than 65. There isn't an arbitrary rating for shots such as Clarke's famous floater so Clarke does not offer much offense outside of dunks.
The game may have over-exaggerated Steven Adams' rebounding attributes. He was second only to Andre Drummond in offensive rebounding but was rated 52nd in defensive rebounding. Ziaire Williams will be the Grizzlies player who is likely to see an increase in rating over the duration of the campaign. His 74 overall marks him 10th overall, even though he's expected play a NBA 2K MT Coins bigger role.
